97. Metallica, Master of Puppets (1986)

This is fun. Not that it's anything special. It's actually pretty tame. You could eat spaghetti to this. I did.

At one time, Master of Puppets was considered heavy metal. Guess it still is. But compare this to bands like Lamb of God or whoever. Those bands make Metallica seem like PG horror rock.

I've been having a lot of fun going through lists of so-called great music. It's interesting to me to think that about two dozen critics aggregated their top-500 albums and then someone compiled that data and generated a hierarchy.

Assume for the sake of argument that this is one of the top albums. What does it mean to say that a Lucinda Williams album is the 98th best album and a Metallica album the 97th? Pretty laughable.

  2. I heard a pretty strong/insightful/powerful song lyric today referencing the story of Robert Johnson…

“White men would rather give the devil praise than acknowledge a black man’s worth”
