Tom Waits, Mule Variations (1999)

I sorta-kinda get the niche appeal of Tom Waits and I get the impression that he's an all-around, good, jolly guy but this music sounds like honkytonk farts to me and I can't understand most of his singing.

That said, I hope there's a special place, some hipster bar, in heaven for good-living scene-kids who like this sort of things, where Waits can go and get applause and plaudits every single night.
