What, you thought I wouldn't give a Mariah Carey album a fair hearing?
Why am I getting so defensive?
I listened to this one front to back while doing work. This is supposed to be Mariah Carey's masterpiece. But a masterpiece, it is not.
Nevertheless, I understand why people like it. It's fun, it's poppy, it's interesting. Mariah Carey is an amazing singer. But it doesn't move me.
If it works on other people, though, that's enough. That's all that matters.
I'm glad there are people who like The Emancipation of Mimi. Good for them. Really.
