An unfortunate part of trying to publish short prose in magazines and journals is the sheer number of rejection letters you'll receive. It can get you down if you let it. In light of all the disappointment, I've decided to make failure my goal. Is it possible to compose and revise my writing to the best of my abilities, submit it to magazines and journals, and receive 100 rejections from those magazines and journals by December 31, 11:59 PM? We'll see. I've already received 10 of 100 rejections even though I started submitting late in the year. I'm still submitting to places that I think would make fine homes for my stories and essays.
